High plains of Colorado. “A black-tailed jackrabbit emerged to survey the scene after a massive hailstorm produced a layer of hail almost a foot thick in the High Plains of Colorado, a region located in ‘Hail Alley’. The silence and solitude after the violence of the storm were striking, providing a scene of remarkable serenity in this desolate landscape.”
