Retiring at Last Light

Pete Scheu

  • "I’m one of those folks who believes that sunset really begins once the sun has sank beneath the horizon. It’s when the depth of the sky comes into focus from the soft mixing color pallet that’s unavailable any other time of the day. Watching as the deep darkness slowly lowers towards the horizon, giving away its stars and planets is one of my favorite things to do. I’m not the only one who enjoys staying out until all the light is gone either - quite often surfers at Pacific Beach will take advantage of every last minute to catch that perfect wave until they, too, finally retire at last light."

"My journey with photography started almost 20 years ago - I’m completely self-taught and have learned through iteration and example. I shoot all digital and use high dynamic ranging (HDR). Because the human eye can see color and contrast much better than any camera in existence, HDR allows me to replicate a landscape as I remember it in my mind’s eye..."  Read more.

  • Shipping

We ship anywhere within the U.S. Due to the sensitive nature of Fine Art, we create custom art boxes and ship via UPS Ground. For larger pieces, custom crates will ship via a professional Art Handling Shipper. Shipping is calculated in the final stage of checkout.

    Returns

Each Fine Art print is made to order by the photographer. Because of this, under normal circumstances we do not accept returns. If the artwork arrives damaged, we will replace the piece at no additional charge.
